Three Cherry have been on a wonderful trip to The Natural History
Museum. We went to see the rainforest exhibition- butterfly jungle- but also had a look at the dinosaurs. We had a great day out (it was VERY hot).

Do they look scared of T Rex? He was grumpy!!!

Well done 3 Cherry! This has been a very hard week with tests and lots of important visitors and you have worked extremely hard.

They are not the only ones who have been working hard. We have an ant farm in our classroom and they are fascinating to watch. They has been working since we got them last week. Come to see them if you are interested.

We have one more week until half term. Don't forget what Mr Duggan said about the back gate being open from Monday. Don't forget to explain to your parents and be sure to tell them about the landscaping project.

What would you put in your magic box?

We are studying information texts in literacy and are planning to create our own about the rainforest and deforestation. Here are some interesting sites for you to find out more...

Welcome back to sunny school! We hope you had a wonderful Easter break.
We didn't have very many star spellers this week but congratulations to:
Yusuf
Badr
Serine
They all got 10 out of 10.
Well done also to:
Farihah
Kieran
Rina
Sarah
Shouq
Yousef
Nyeema
who each got one wrong.
Please learn your spellings a little bit each day.
This week in Literacy we are looking at language play in poetry. We are using the poem the Magic Box by Kit Wright to help us.

I will put in the box
the swish of a silk sari on a summer night, fire from the nostrils of a Chinese dragon, the tip of a tongue touching a tooth.

I will put in the box
a snowman with a rumbling belly
a sip of the bluest water from Lake Lucerene,
a leaping spark from an electric fish.
I will put into the box
three violet wishes spoken in Gujarati,
the last joke of an ancient uncle,
and the first smile of a baby.

I will put into the box
a fifth season and a black sun,
a cowboy on a broomstick
and a witch on a white horse.

My box is fashioned from ice and gold and steel,
with stars on the lid and secrets in the corners.
Its hinges are the toe joints of dinosaurs.
I shall surf in my box on the great high-rolling breakers of the wild Atlantic,
then wash ashore on a yellow beach the colour of the sun.

Three Cherry have been writing their own play scripts. We wrote our own version of The Twits by Roald Dahl. The children loved thinking up new and horrible tricks for them to play on each other.

Yousef's was particularly good.

Can you see how this is different to a story? What features does it have?

This week in Literacy we are going to be looking at poetry and how poets play with words to make their poems even more enjoyable.

Watch this video of a Roald Dahl poem- one of my favourites!

Not many people made it to year three on Monday so...

We had LOADS of fun in the snow!
Now it's back to normal school but we are still having fun. We have started a unit on Performance Poetry.
We are looking at poems by Shel Silverstein. See what you think to this poem...

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to school! I hope you all enjoyed your holidays.

We have had a lovely start to term and we are all working extremely hard in 3 Cherry- well done. As promised, here is an example of a spelling sentences homework that I think is almost perfect. Well done Farihah! This is a good example for all of you to follow.

Here are two example of fantastic art work by Badr and Muminah! Can you guess what we are studying in art (and in fact history)?

Don't forget to keep collecting your WOW words for our CPOW! display.
Also remember your websites for our website book!
